Winnipeg Blue Bomber Alumni R.A. Sam Fabro Passes Away at the Age of 97

We are saddened to learn of the passing yesterday of one of our elder statesmen, R.A. Sam Fabro, at the age of 97 years. Sam played Flanker for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1942, and has been a pillar of the community and a proud member of the Winnipeg Blue Bomber Alumni for decades. Among the many honours he received over a lifetime of service, Sam was a member of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, the Winnipeg Citizens Walk of Fame, the Order of Manitoba and – in recognition of his “tireless efforts in promoting and organizing sports in the Winnipeg area” – the Order of Canada. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sam’s family and his many friends and associates. Rest in peace Sam, you will be missed. #OnceABomberAlwaysABomber
