Toronto Argonauts Alumnus Marv Luster Passes

The Toronto Argonauts Alumni Association are saddened to learn that All-Time Argo Marv Luster has passed away. He was 82.

This ferocious defensive back was an Eastern all-star seven straight years as an Argo (1966-72) and CFL all-star six times in total. Marv was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1990, and he was honoured as an All-Time Argo in 1998. He was named to the All- Time Argo depth chart at safety in 2007.

Marv was selected originally by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1960 NFL Draft. He starred as a defensive back in the CFL for 14 years with the Argos (1964-72) and Montreal. With the Alouettes he won the 1974 Grey Cup. In 2006, he was voted 35th of the CFL’s Top 50 players of the league’s modern era by TSN.

Marv had been living in the Atlanta area.
