Never Alone Rose Project

Slider(Partnership between the Never Alone Foundation, Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association, and the CFLAA)

The CFL Alumni Association and the Never Alone Foundation, a cancer charity founded by former CFL Alumni and executive, Lyle Bauer, have entered into an agreement to support those diagnosed with cancer.
The vision of the Foundation is “A world where no one enters the fight against cancer feeling alone”. The CFLAA vision is to foster a lifelong relationship between the Canadian Football League and its alumni, and provide support to alumni, to football in Canada, and to other communities it serves.

Bauer started the Foundation after being diagnosed with throat cancer 10 years ago.
Please visit to find out more about Bauer’s story and the Never Alone Rose Project.

Through the partnership with the Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association a rose has been created, a one of a kind: The Never Alone Rose. Garden retail centres across Canada will be selling the rose and hosting events across Canada. A portion of the sales will be donated to the Never Alone Foundation and the CFL Alumni Support Fund ( A CFL Alumnus will be at each event to do an autograph signing and maybe say a few words to the crowd that is there.

Cancer affects us either directly, or with family members, friends, and acquaintances. Today there are a number of CFL Alumni who are fighting cancer, survivors who are carrying the message of hope and will be supporting the program. They are Lui Passaglia, Hector Pothier, and James Murphy.

Unfortunately, there are those who succumbed (partial list): Ron Lancaster, Dick Thornton, Tyrone Jones, Steve Rodehutskors, Bruce Smith, Dick Aldridge, Warren Hudson, Ollie Bakken, Geary Murdoch, Reggie Lewis, Tony Antunovic, Jim Rountree and Sam Etcheverry. May they rest in Peace.
There are currently over 30 events booked across Canada. Others who will be making appearances include Chris Walby, Gizmo Williams, Milt Stegall, Paul Osbaldiston, Tony Gabriel, Don Narcisse, Mike McCullough, Dan Rashovich, Matt Dominguez, Neal Hughes, Robert Mimbs, Mike McCullough and Troy Westwood.

The Causerose

The goal of the Never Alone Foundation (NAF) is to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. A portion of each sale will be donated to NAF who will ensure that monies raised remain in the province where the sale was made.

The Product

The CNLA growers planted the rose genetics (from Morden and St-Jean Research Stations) in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. The Never Alone Rose has survived three Manitoba winters, and its compact size makes it a perfect selection to grow on the patio. Its bloom power is just amazing!
