Hicham El-Mashtoub a former NFL and CFL center passed away at the young age of 49 after a bout with cancer. El-Mashtoub went to the University of Arizona, where he flourished for the Wildcats. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. El-Mashtoub spent parts of the next two seasons with the Oilers before being released and relegated to the practice squad. In 1999 his football career continued with the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL before he retired.
