Robert Lee Kosid (Bob) Obituary

Hamilton, ON – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bob Kosid, a dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather, on July 20, 2025, in his 83rd year. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Wendy Bezusko Kosid; daughter, Courtney Kosid of Louisville, KY; son, Brad Kosid (Katie) of Hamilton, ON; six grandchildren, Sarah Edwards (Luke) of Greenville, SC, Cameron Kosid of Birmingham, AL, Ava Marrone, Robbie Kosid, Carter Kosid, and Parker Kosid of Hamilton, ON; and great-grandchild, Reed Edwards of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his dear sister, Janet Uthe (Dennis) of Roseville, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Kosid and Audrey Lee Kosid; son, LtCol Robert Kosid (Michelle of Campbellsville, KY) in 2011; and son, Peter Joseph Kosid (Sabina of Hamilton, ON) in 2012.

Bob was born on February 27, 1942, in Brandon, Manitoba, and raised in Glenview, Illinois. He was an alumnus of the University of Kentucky and played professional football (1964-1972) as a defensive back with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, winning the Grey Cup in 1966. He was inducted into the Roughrider’s Plaza of Honor in 1997.

Following Bob’s football career, he worked for IBM, Sharp, and Panasonic. In his later life, Bob truly loved singing in the choir of Compass Point Bible Church, where he also volunteered and helped with building maintenance.

Cremation was chosen, and a Celebration of Life will be held August 9, 2025, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 170 Magnolia Drive, Hamilton, ON. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing E.R. and ICU staff of Hamilton General Hospital for their compassionate care of Bob. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to a charity of your choice.
