CANADIAN FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME GAME SET FOR SEPTEMBER 15 AT TIM HORTONS FIELD
Former Ticats QB Calvillo and LB O’Shea headline 2017 inductees
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame Game returns to Hamilton again in 2017 when the Tiger-Cats host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday, September 15 at Tim Hortons Field. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. and will feature a halftime ceremony to officially induct this year’s Hall of Fame class.
The 2017 inductees were announced last night at Mark’s CFL Week in Regina, Saskatchewan. The list included CFL greats Anthony Calvillo, Mike O’Shea, Kelvin Anderson and Geroy Simon in the player category, and long time administrator Stan Schwartz and recently retired Coach of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, Brian Towriss, in the Builder category.
The 2017 class will also be honoured at a VIP event in Hamilton the day before the game on Thursday, September 14. Each player will be presented their Hall of Fame rings and jackets at the event, and their new official Hall of Fame busts will be unveiled at Grey Cup in Ottawa in November. More details will be announced at a later date.
The new inductees will bring the total number of Hall of Fame members to 289. The Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum operates as a non-profit registered charity and has been located in Hamilton, Ontario since 1963. Moving to Tim Hortons Field in the near future, it is home to more than 80,000 Canadian football artifacts, ranging from equipment and trophies to photos and videos.
