Hamilton Tiger-Cats Alumni Association
The Hamilton Tiger-Cat Alumni Association has been very active in the first half of 2015. Our Association held our Annual Meeting in May and hosted our 30th Annual Golf Tournament on May 25th at MontHill Golf and Country Club in Caledonia. The tournament was a near sell out as many fans joined dozens of Alumni for a beautiful day on the course and in the club house.
The Cats Claws Fan Club hosted the Tiger-Cat Walk of Fame Dinner on May 21st. Our Alumni Association has been supporting the Fan Club over many years. This year Tiger-Cat Alumni Member and former Defensive Lineman Mike Philbrick was inducted into the Walk of Fame. Our Association is very proud and congratulates Mike on his induction.
On June 3rd, members of our Alumni supported the Tim Horton’s “Children’s Camp Day” serving coffee and collecting donations at various locations in Hamilton. This has been an excellent event for Alumni to participate in and the customers look forward to engaging with Alumni each year. Tim Horton’s owners donate 100 percent of the proceeds from coffee sold on Camp day to the Tim Horton’s Foundation. Tim Horton’s sent over 17,000 kids to camp in 2014.
Our Alumni Association is pleased to announce that two of our highly regarded members are to be inducted into the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. Among the small group of inductees are two Tiger-Cat Greats, Joe Zuger and Rocky DiPietro. The Induction dinner will be held on September 17th, at Carmen’s Banquet Center.
Now in its seventh year, Tiger-Cat Alumni and current McMaster Marauder Offensive Line Coach Jason Riley hosted his “Upfront Lineman Camp” at McMaster University this past month for youth aged 13 to 18. This camp has grown into one of the go to football camps in Ontario. Tiger-Cat Alumni that helped out coaching included Ryan Donnelly, Darrell Harle, Brian Hutchings, Ralph Scholz, John Malinosky, Dave Richardson, Leo Ezerins, Ben Zambiasi and John Salavantis.
Angelo Mosca, is and has been an outstanding Tiger-Cat Alumni Association Member. He has also been one of Canada’s greatest sports characters for more than 50 years. Mosca will be honoured at a charity fundraiser known as “Still Mosca” on Wednesday, August 26th.
