REGINA — Long-time Montreal Alouettes safety Marc-Olivier Brouillette is retiring after seven CFL seasons, the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Saturday.
Brouillette confirmed reports on Twitter on Saturday afternoon before the Riders later made the announcement.
Brouillette, 31, signed with the Riders this off-season after seven seasons in Montreal. The Montreal native recorded 195 tackles over 103 career games, adding five interceptions and six forced fumbles.
Last season, Brouillette started 18 games for the Als, recording 33 defensive tackles and an interception.
The retirement could lead to a job opening for fellow national Mike Edem, who the Riders acquired this month in a trade with the BC Lions.
