Argos Mourn Passing of Danny Nykoluk

August 2, 2016

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is mourning the loss of one of their all-time great players, Danny Nykoluk, who passed away on Friday at the age of 82.

Nykoluk  played 16 seasons (1955, 1957-1971) for the Argonauts as an offensive tackle. The 6-3, 250-pound native of Toronto, Ontario finished his career ranked second in club history with a total of 204 games played. He went 12 straight seasons (1959-70) without missing a single-game.

“Our rich history was written by great players like Danny,” said Michael Copeland, Argos’ President and CEO. “We will be forever grateful for the contributions he made to the Argos. On behalf of our entire organization, including our fans, we send our deepest condolences to his friends and family.”

The two-time CFL East Division All-Star was honoured as an All-Time Argonaut in 1996 and his jersey number 60 is one of only four that has been retired by the club.
